My daughter's Valentine Card

So my daughters both wanted to make their own Valentine's Day cards. For them I cut hearts out on my Cricut, I let them pick whatever stamps they wanted for their cards, and they BOTH picked the same images! They have yet to put their classmates names on the cards and sign them, but that is ok. For the Monkey on the vine my daughter wanted to ink the outside edge of the card, she did NOT want it on the other one. They are so proud of the cards, and they are 100% their own! It is their ideas, their colouring, totally their work! I am very proud of them and I am sure that their classmates will LOVE them!

Cards for Kayla - Giving to others

One of the many joys in my life is giving to others. While looking through one of the blogs/sights that I frequent posted about a brave little girl name Kayla. This sweet little girl and her family are clinging to hope ... you see Kayla was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, BUT that is not all just two days BEFORE her father Jimmy, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This all happened just days before Christmas in 2008. Both father and daughter are battling for their lives! How much can one family take??Sweet little Kayla is in the hospital with neutropenic {no immune system}, and has bacteria in her blood ... she can not go to school ... see her friends ... play with others!
As a parent this breaks my heart!!The plea that has been given is to send this little angel some "sunshine" a card ... some stickers ... nothing much just a little something to show that others care.
How could I say no?? My daughters helped with this cute card. The image is High Hopes, and the cardstock is Stampin Up. I added bright flowers with pink brads (as pink is Kayla's favorite colour). I coloured the image in bright and warm colours with my copics. I used my Dalia Nestabilities in the for the background. My daughters also made her a few cards and picked out some stickers to send to her. If you are interested in sending Kayla a card, and to get more information you can look at My Organized Choas blog.
It is amazing what one simple act can do for your soul and brighten the day of a beautiful child!
Let me know if you send something... lets help brighten her day!!

Christmas card for our Child Sponsor

Our family sponsors a child through an organization called Chalice. The little girl we sponsor will get this cute card that I made for her and her family. The image is High Hopes and coloured with my copics. I used a natural fiber paper for the background, and a white ribbon with Merry Christmas along the bottom. I didn't add any other embellishments because I felt that the paper added a lot of texture, and nothing else was needed. I sure hope she likes the card!!

Christmas card for our Canadian Troops

Our MPP along with several local radio stations and other establishments, are collecting Christmas cards to send to Canadian troops fighting over in Afghanistan. I thought it was a great idea to send a card, and show our appreciation and support to those who wont be home for the holiday's because they are helping to keep the peace. For this card I used "Mudzie's Gift" image from High Hopes, and he is coloured with my copics (is there anything else!) I used my Crystal Effects to glaze the light bulbs to give them a glassy look. The paper of course is from my stash as was the ribbon. I added clear Dew Drops to the side for some added interest. On the inside of the stamp I used the co-ordinating statement, also from High Hopes, "Just stoppin' in to say" Have a Merry Chrismoose, eh?" It was wonderful to be able to spread a little cheer to those who are away from their family, helping to spread peace, during the Christmas season!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #25 AND Simon Says Stamp

For The Magnolia Down Under Challenge #25 and the Just Magnolia - Simon says stamp monthly challenge (WOO HOO 2 challenges complete in one!!), we were asked to Distress. I made this super cute bookmark for my husband. He is getting back into reading and I thought he needed a cute, yet masculine, homemade bookmark. I distressed the outer edges of the bookmark. The image is Edwin (can't remember the exact title of it sorry), the stack of books are also from Magnolia, of course it was all coloured with my copics! I textured the background with Bermuda Blue (I think that's what it was called) ink from Stampin' Up and my sea sponge. The strip of paper has sparkly blue circles, it was from my stash of course! OH, and I used my 3-d Lacquer for Edwin's eye glasses to give it that glassy look! I added a piece of fiber through a blue eyelet for the top, to try and help keep his place! I think it turned out pretty good! Thanks for looking!!

Small Halloween cards

For my daughter's JK/SK class we made these cute little cards. My daughter helped with EVERYTHING! This set is from Stampin Up and its called Sweet Centers. She stamped the images using Pumpkin Pie coloured ink from Stampin Up. We filled the little cups with ghost jubejubes ... on the inside my daughter stamped Happy Hallowe'en in white as well as FROM in white ink. She then printed her name using a white pencil crayon. The card itself is made out of black textured cardstock. One set made ... One to go!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Our house hold has been filled with illness, and we hope that it is now over ...

HAPPY HALLOWE'EN!!

Sketch and stash Challenge #20

This weeks challenge from the Sketch and stash can be seen on their blog. For this challenge I used one of my new High Hopes stamps, this cute Gorilla, the sentiment is also from High Hopes. When I was trying to decide what to do with it all I thought I would make the background very girlie. So I got the pink textured cardstock, and the pink and brown background just tied it all together, I cut this piece out with my spellbinders and then embossed the edge of it too although this is hard to see. I coloured the gorilla with my copics and in the second image you can see the added sparkle which I did with my spica. I LOVE the way this card turned out! SO CUTE!!!!!!

ABC Challenge DT call

A great challenge blog ABC Challenge is having a DT call. I love their challenges ... so much fun!!! For the DT call you are asked to post your 3 favorite cards to show our style. I think these 3 cards show my style the best ... I tend not to add too many embellishments to the front of my cards as I like the image itself to be the focus of the attention. I enjoy experiementing with different types of stamps from various companies, here two of the cards are showing Magnolia images and the other is showing CC Designs. I LOVE using my copics to colour the images!! Thank you for taking time to look at my submission for the DT call! Wish me luck!!!

DESIGN TEAM announcement!

I am so happy to announce that I have been chosen to be part of the design team for Whimsical Scraps & Bugs ... stay tuned for some cool projects and MORE .... woooo hoooo!!!!!

Humble pie "Blop"

The Town Scrapper is having a "blop" for the release of The Humble pie stamps ... Check it out! Such cute images ... and great prizes!!

ICS DT call

One of my favorite blog sites is having a DT call, the ICS!! Here is the sketch that we were asked to use! As soon as I saw the sketch I knew EXACTLY what I was going to do ... I had all these
wonderful ideas pop into my head!! You see, I had just gotten back from a trip to The Town Scrapper. I used "Pippi" one of the Swiss Pixie fairies from C.C. Design, and also the Bench which is also a C.C. Design stamp. They are both stamped using Momento Tuxedo black ink, and coloured with copics. I am very excited to use my new "0000" colours in this image! I added some extra sparkle to the wings with my clear spica. On the top of Pippa's pumpkin hat I added some Crystal Effects to give it a little wet look! The orange background is embossed using a pumpkin cuttlebug embossing folder. The pumpkin background for the sentiment was cut using my sizzix, doubled. I found the sentiment in a bag of buttons and it really seemed to work for the layout!

I used a lot of different shades while colouring Pippi ... She is just tooo cute!!! Of course I used LOTS of layers too!!!

I couldn't leave the inside totally blank so I added a little of the spiderweb DT with another pumkin to tie it all in!!

Thanks for taking a look! Wish me luck with the DT call!!

A little help for Paige AND D is for diecut ABC challenge

I mentioned in an earlier post today, about a plea to make cards for a sweet 13 year old name Paige. She was serious injured in an accident and lost her arm. You can read more here.
To help this brave girl, I made this cute card. The paper is all stampin up, it is from their new in colour line. The image is High Hopes, and the sentiment is Stampin' Up. I used my scalloped circle spellbinders for the image, the mounting and the sentiment. I added a strip of fuzzy pink ribbon to give it a little more texture. The image of course is coloured with my copics!! I made his tongue, eyes, nose and the flowers a little wet look with my Crystal Effects. I hope that this card gives Paige a little smile! I have sent this off now to Paige at the hospital, if you want to participate too the address and details can found in the above link. THANKS!!

This card is also for the ABC challenge - D is for diecut challenge. The background for the snake, the yellow background AND the background for the sentiment are all die cuts! =) thanks!!

Week 22 Magnolia Challenge

For this weeks Magnolia challenge we were asked to emboss, we could emboss anything. For this submission, I used my spellbinder to cut out the scalloped circle and then EMBOSS it! I used the butterfly background and then the Tilda and Edwin Chasing butterfly images on the card. I LOVE the way this car turned out. The images are coloured with copics. I pop dotted the background, Tilda and Edwin are pop dotted on top of the background, and then I pop dotted the butterflies in Tilda's hand AND the one in Edwins net! Many many layers on there! I added a little pink chalk to both Tilda's and Edwin's cheeks to give them a little more colour. The background paper is from my stash (I love using up the paper in my stash!!) I think this card turned out amazingly!!!
