Christmas card for our Child Sponsor

Our family sponsors a child through an organization called Chalice. The little girl we sponsor will get this cute card that I made for her and her family. The image is High Hopes and coloured with my copics. I used a natural fiber paper for the background, and a white ribbon with Merry Christmas along the bottom. I didn't add any other embellishments because I felt that the paper added a lot of texture, and nothing else was needed. I sure hope she likes the card!!

Christmas card for our Canadian Troops

Our MPP along with several local radio stations and other establishments, are collecting Christmas cards to send to Canadian troops fighting over in Afghanistan. I thought it was a great idea to send a card, and show our appreciation and support to those who wont be home for the holiday's because they are helping to keep the peace. For this card I used "Mudzie's Gift" image from High Hopes, and he is coloured with my copics (is there anything else!) I used my Crystal Effects to glaze the light bulbs to give them a glassy look. The paper of course is from my stash as was the ribbon. I added clear Dew Drops to the side for some added interest. On the inside of the stamp I used the co-ordinating statement, also from High Hopes, "Just stoppin' in to say" Have a Merry Chrismoose, eh?" It was wonderful to be able to spread a little cheer to those who are away from their family, helping to spread peace, during the Christmas season!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #25 AND Simon Says Stamp

For The Magnolia Down Under Challenge #25 and the Just Magnolia - Simon says stamp monthly challenge (WOO HOO 2 challenges complete in one!!), we were asked to Distress. I made this super cute bookmark for my husband. He is getting back into reading and I thought he needed a cute, yet masculine, homemade bookmark. I distressed the outer edges of the bookmark. The image is Edwin (can't remember the exact title of it sorry), the stack of books are also from Magnolia, of course it was all coloured with my copics! I textured the background with Bermuda Blue (I think that's what it was called) ink from Stampin' Up and my sea sponge. The strip of paper has sparkly blue circles, it was from my stash of course! OH, and I used my 3-d Lacquer for Edwin's eye glasses to give it that glassy look! I added a piece of fiber through a blue eyelet for the top, to try and help keep his place! I think it turned out pretty good! Thanks for looking!!

Small Halloween cards

For my daughter's JK/SK class we made these cute little cards. My daughter helped with EVERYTHING! This set is from Stampin Up and its called Sweet Centers. She stamped the images using Pumpkin Pie coloured ink from Stampin Up. We filled the little cups with ghost jubejubes ... on the inside my daughter stamped Happy Hallowe'en in white as well as FROM in white ink. She then printed her name using a white pencil crayon. The card itself is made out of black textured cardstock. One set made ... One to go!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Our house hold has been filled with illness, and we hope that it is now over ...

HAPPY HALLOWE'EN!!

Sketch and stash Challenge #20

This weeks challenge from the Sketch and stash can be seen on their blog. For this challenge I used one of my new High Hopes stamps, this cute Gorilla, the sentiment is also from High Hopes. When I was trying to decide what to do with it all I thought I would make the background very girlie. So I got the pink textured cardstock, and the pink and brown background just tied it all together, I cut this piece out with my spellbinders and then embossed the edge of it too although this is hard to see. I coloured the gorilla with my copics and in the second image you can see the added sparkle which I did with my spica. I LOVE the way this card turned out! SO CUTE!!!!!!

ABC Challenge DT call

A great challenge blog ABC Challenge is having a DT call. I love their challenges ... so much fun!!! For the DT call you are asked to post your 3 favorite cards to show our style. I think these 3 cards show my style the best ... I tend not to add too many embellishments to the front of my cards as I like the image itself to be the focus of the attention. I enjoy experiementing with different types of stamps from various companies, here two of the cards are showing Magnolia images and the other is showing CC Designs. I LOVE using my copics to colour the images!! Thank you for taking time to look at my submission for the DT call! Wish me luck!!!

DESIGN TEAM announcement!

I am so happy to announce that I have been chosen to be part of the design team for Whimsical Scraps & Bugs ... stay tuned for some cool projects and MORE .... woooo hoooo!!!!!

Humble pie "Blop"

The Town Scrapper is having a "blop" for the release of The Humble pie stamps ... Check it out! Such cute images ... and great prizes!!

ICS DT call

One of my favorite blog sites is having a DT call, the ICS!! Here is the sketch that we were asked to use! As soon as I saw the sketch I knew EXACTLY what I was going to do ... I had all these
wonderful ideas pop into my head!! You see, I had just gotten back from a trip to The Town Scrapper. I used "Pippi" one of the Swiss Pixie fairies from C.C. Design, and also the Bench which is also a C.C. Design stamp. They are both stamped using Momento Tuxedo black ink, and coloured with copics. I am very excited to use my new "0000" colours in this image! I added some extra sparkle to the wings with my clear spica. On the top of Pippa's pumpkin hat I added some Crystal Effects to give it a little wet look! The orange background is embossed using a pumpkin cuttlebug embossing folder. The pumpkin background for the sentiment was cut using my sizzix, doubled. I found the sentiment in a bag of buttons and it really seemed to work for the layout!

I used a lot of different shades while colouring Pippi ... She is just tooo cute!!! Of course I used LOTS of layers too!!!

I couldn't leave the inside totally blank so I added a little of the spiderweb DT with another pumkin to tie it all in!!

Thanks for taking a look! Wish me luck with the DT call!!

A little help for Paige AND D is for diecut ABC challenge

I mentioned in an earlier post today, about a plea to make cards for a sweet 13 year old name Paige. She was serious injured in an accident and lost her arm. You can read more here.
To help this brave girl, I made this cute card. The paper is all stampin up, it is from their new in colour line. The image is High Hopes, and the sentiment is Stampin' Up. I used my scalloped circle spellbinders for the image, the mounting and the sentiment. I added a strip of fuzzy pink ribbon to give it a little more texture. The image of course is coloured with my copics!! I made his tongue, eyes, nose and the flowers a little wet look with my Crystal Effects. I hope that this card gives Paige a little smile! I have sent this off now to Paige at the hospital, if you want to participate too the address and details can found in the above link. THANKS!!

This card is also for the ABC challenge - D is for diecut challenge. The background for the snake, the yellow background AND the background for the sentiment are all die cuts! =) thanks!!

Week 22 Magnolia Challenge

For this weeks Magnolia challenge we were asked to emboss, we could emboss anything. For this submission, I used my spellbinder to cut out the scalloped circle and then EMBOSS it! I used the butterfly background and then the Tilda and Edwin Chasing butterfly images on the card. I LOVE the way this car turned out. The images are coloured with copics. I pop dotted the background, Tilda and Edwin are pop dotted on top of the background, and then I pop dotted the butterflies in Tilda's hand AND the one in Edwins net! Many many layers on there! I added a little pink chalk to both Tilda's and Edwin's cheeks to give them a little more colour. The background paper is from my stash (I love using up the paper in my stash!!) I think this card turned out amazingly!!!

Cute as a bug

I have been very busy the last few days creating some cards and such, but I seem to run out of time to post them all ... I am getting close to the end of the posts for tonight ... but not yet!! LOL ... for the next creation I made this super cute card called "Cute as a Bug" I used some neat sparkley paper as the background with circles. I embossed the purple with my cuttlebug circle folder, the cute image is mounted on more of the circles, and she is coloured with my copics. I added a little more sparkle with my spicas. I love this one, so simple and yet perfect!!

Bookmark

I made this bookmark for my mother-in-law for her birthday. I used the studying Tilda for the image, she is sitting on top of a stack of books which are also from Magnolia. They were both stamped on simply smooth and coloured with my copics. In the background I punched out circles and added buttons to the middle of the circles. I used Crystal Effects on the buttons, and the glasses on Tilda. On the books I added some sparkle with my Stickles. I used an eyelet on the top to put the fiber through. I am sure she will love it as she is a very avid reader!!

I made this elegant Sympathy card with a Stampin Up sympathy set. I stamped the image on simply smooth paper and coloured it with my copics. I pop dotted the flowers, and pop doted the rectangle with the image. I gently sponged the edges with pretty in pink Stampin Up ink. Behind the image I used my cuttlebug embossing folder to enboss an elegant pattern. On the right side I used the simple "with Sympathy" sentiment, behind the sentiment I stamped a swirl in the light pink. On the inside of the card, I also stamped an elegant sentiment (also in the light pink ... I didn't take a picture of it sorry!)

Mini lunch cards

I know that my daughters absolutely LOVE getting little cards in their lunch. What a great way to tell our children that we are thinking of then while they are at school. I made these cute little 3X3 cards using the greeting farm images (can't remember the name of the set), I used paper from my stash to enhance the backgrounds. I made them simple, with only the sayings on each card. This is an excellent way to promote reading for a purpose with your child. My girls are always all smiles when they come home with one of these in their lunches!!

Help out a little girl ...

Ok so I was visiting one of my favorite sites when I read a heart breaking story of a girl who has lost part of her arm due to an accident. People around the world are getting to send her hand made cards. You can see all the information here several individuals have offered some blog candy to those who help brighten this girls day! Come back soon to see my card!!

Simon Says Sketch Challenge

For this wonderful sketch I rotated it a bit. As soon as I saw this sketch I thought of my Magnolia spider web in the corner, so that is what I did! In the corner stamped in white is the Magnolia spider web, I enhanced it with Crystal Effects (by Stampin Up), hanging from the web is a little spider I found in one of my jars of die cuts, hanging down from a piece of fiber. he image is again Magnolia, I cuttlebug embossed the lighter orange with pumpkins. The ribbon I just picked up from a local Hobby store and thought it matched perfectly. The saying came from my stash. I had so much fun making this cute Hallowe'en card! Thanks for the awesome sketch!!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge #76- Back to school

For the Cute Card Thursday challenge, we made cards with a school theme. For my card I used Tilda school girl, from the magnolia line. I coloured her with my copics, and added a little sparkle with my spica. All of the other items on the card are from my stash. The background paper is school days (with various school says), I added alphabet ribbon to the top, ruler paper on the bottom and 2 school themed buttons to the side. What a great challenge for the start of the school year!

Whiff of Joy Design team call

I created this gorgeous, elegant Christmas card for the Whiff of Joy Design team call. I used the Guardian angel stamp. She is stamped on Simply Smooth paper, and coloured with my Copics. I used very light colours to make her look very angelic, and added some sparkle with my spica to the wings and shoes. She is double mounted on Clouds (can't remember the company it was in my stash) and also Light blue cardstock. In the background I used a printed vellum for some added interest. On the bottom, there is a lacy ribbon. The sentiment, very simply put, says peace, I did this sentiment by hand with fine silver wire. I carefully attached the sentiment under the wire (must say this wasn't an easy task!). On the inside I used my cuttlebug to emboss more of the pink cardstock sown one side to showcase the light pink on the front! I had so much fun completing this card for this Design Team. Thank you for looking!!

Sketch and Stash Challenge 18

Sketch and Stash Challenge 18 - For this challenge we had to use a sketch to create a card from our "stash" everything on this card was from my stash ... even the cute Magnolia image that I had coloured a while ago and put aside. I used my copics to colour Tilda, and added some sparkle with my spica. The paper is Stampin Up and Bo Bunny (I think). The ribbon, flowers, buttons and dew drops were all from my shelf. I used my cuttlebug embossing circles folder for the light green that was used. The ink for the edges and the saying are both Stampin' Up. The Happy Birthday saying is from High Hopes Stamp company. What a great challenge!! Thank you!!

Here is a cute little card I made for my neighbour who gave us a big bag of fresh peaches from their tree. The stamp is from "Your Next Stamp" company, the saying is from Stamping Up. I used my cricut to cut out the background shape, and used my scallop circle for the inner circle. I used Pacific Point blue Stampin Up ink for the saying. Of course I coloured the cute image with my copics.

Your Next Stamp 1st Design Team Call

Here are my submissions for the first DT call for an exciting new company called "Your Next Stamp" (what a great name for a company!!) For my first card I used many different stamps. The first one is a C.C. Design stamp of the Polka Dot Bikini, the background and saying are by High Hopes Stamp. I coloured them in my Copics of course, I added sparkle with my copic Spica and Stickles. On the yellow polka dots I used my crystal effects to give them the wet look. The paper is from my "stash" and I am not sure what company they are. The second card is a High Hopes baby image, it is stamped on an embossed label from spellbinders. Around the image I sponged some "pretty in pink" ink from stampin up, it is done VERY lightely and didn't show up the greatest but you can see it a little. I coloured it for a baby girl, as the background also shows. Of course, it too is coloured with Copics. I added a "Labelz" for added show. At the bottom I added a few dew drops for extra show. Thanks for looking!! Have a good one!

High Hopes Challenge #37 - Stars or Stripes

This weeks High Hopes Challenge was Stars or Stripes. I decided to use both stars AND stripes on this cute little card. I used a Magnolia stamp this week rather than a High Hopes, just because ... well ... just because. I think this turned out soo cute. My 6 year old daughter helped to decide what stickles to use and where. I must thank her for her wonderful insight!

Birthday party Invites

I slightly re-vamped my daughters b-day invites because I didn't like how the paint looked, so here are all of her invites that are going to go out to her friends tomorrow. It is a Big Lady Theme, with a tea party, crafts and treats. It should be fun!

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

my daughter's b-day invitations

My daughter has a b-day coming up so I thought I would make her invites. She is turning 5, and she is having a "big lady" party where the girls will come in adult clothes (like dress up) we are going to have a tea party (with real tea cups they can take home). I am also going to do a craft and a few games like you would play at a baby shower or wedding shower. She is so excited. The image is from High hopes, the "5" was a stencil that I painted in her choice of colour (green is her fav.) using MM paint, the saying is cut from my cricut Beyond Birthday. The inside was embossed using a cuttlebug template and then I chalked the words to make them stand out more. One down ... 7 more to make!!! It was a lot of fun and I am happy to be able to make something special for her big day!

I cut the background out using my Wild Card Cartridge for my Cricut. This was so much fun to make, I really had to think of what would be best for this card. Thank you! Hope my FIL likes it!
